Celebration (party)

A celebration is a joyous observation on the occasion of a special event: -

Personal Level

• birth, etc., see below
• passing an examination
• success in sport, business, etc.
• acquiring substantial possessions or home
• having got a (better) job
• being released from hospital, prison, kidnapping

or commemorating something that happened in the past, which the consequences still continue: -

• birthday
• wedding

National or Cultural Level

The celebration may also be on the occasion of a special day in general, New Year, Christmas, Diwali. In most cases, national or cultural celebrations involve festivals and similar activities.
