Dream
Interpretation: Example of Dream
Interpretation
The
beginning of David's dream: I was at a university
twelve years in the future. I was 30. In the moment I felt persecuted. I knew
that a whole team of policemen or your FBI or CIA were haunting me. Suddenly I
began to run, and they were following me. I decided to break a glass (window)
in order to get out of the building.
Cyndi
begins to interpret for David:
The
number 12 represents a powerful symbol of growth and development in one's life.
It also represents the trinity: body, mind, soul. In numerology, numbers are
added together to form a simple small number, so 12 would be 1+2=3. Similarly,
30 would be 3+0=3. We have the number 3 appearing twice already, which tells us
that this dream has a spiritual message for you. This is most likely why you
felt driven to find out what it meant. The setting of the university represents
a situation of higher learning.
David,
you felt persecuted, and it's important to ask yourself why you might feel this
way in your life. It is interesting that you felt this way about the FBI or CIA
of the United States. This communicates that you feel watched and spied upon by
an authority which is unfamiliar to you, hence this authority is more
threatening or frightening. However, it's important to keep in mind that each
person in our dreams is actually a mirror of a part of our own Selves, so you
are actually feeling persecuted by pressure you put on yourself. These parts of
Self are called "aspects" and when we are not in sync or compatible
with different aspects of our Selves we feel torn, guilty, pressured or
generally uncomfortable with our choices. We're left uncertain and confused.
You
used the word "haunting" and this relates to what is happening in
some situation in your life that you are not yet sure about, but that you feel
you should have carefully or neatly planned out already. Maybe you have made
plans but they are not plans you feel comfortable with, and you feel like you
are robbing yourself and that is why the FBI or CIA starts chasing you. You RUN
in your dream, which is a sign of fear or resisting something in your life. You
are running from spies, which are the aspects of your own Self that know you
are fooling yourself about something buried deep inside, below your conscious
awareness. This is why you feel haunted, because you can't run away from who
you really are and how you really feel about your life's choices.
You
broke a glass window in order to get out of the building. Broken glass is a
symbol of shattered dreams or hopes that you have in your heart and soul. Are
you putting aside hopes and dreams to please someone else? Here the building
represents yourself, and in trying to "get out of the building" you are
trying to escape yourself, which is impossible. Look carefully at who you
really are and be true to yourself. This is what your dream is saying so far,
in my opinion.
David's
dream continues:
I
was on the third floor but there was a second floor roof adjoining the building
that I could jump onto. When I reached that roof I jumped from the university
to another building and continued running. I wasn't worried for my safety, so I
was willing to do dangerous things I definitely would not do in waking life.
The other people who were watching me were helping my persecutors by telling
them where I was. The dream carried on like this gradually winding down until I
woke up. It was just like a movie but what caught my attention most was my
feelings during the dream. I felt guilty like I had done something bad and felt
I was being persecuted because of that. I felt so guilty that my life meant
nothing to me, but at the same time I was quite concerned with getting away
with it.
Cyndi's
interpretation continues:
Notice
that the number 3 comes up again when you are on the third floor. The roof
symbolizes protection. This may be a message that you are guided and protected
when you make big or frightening choices that are right for you. You then
jumped from the university/higher place of learning to another building and
continued to run. This sounds like you are avoiding what is best for you, what
you know in your heart is the right choice for YOU.
You
said you weren't worried about your life, but the message of this dream is that
you should be making choices that you feel are true for you in your life, so
you should be concerned. When one is not true to him/herself, they get dreams
like this one you had!
Your
dream Self did dangerous things. Can you remember if you felt like you were
indifferent or didn't care anymore, because you weren't doing what you liked in
your life?
You
felt a lot of guilt. This would arise from situations where you were afraid of
letting someone down by not wanting to do something they want you to do, or
where you fear doing it wrong or generally "failing" others. Guilt is
anger turned inward on ourselves as a form of punishment. Ask yourself why you
would feel this way. What does this dream interpretation remind you of in your
waking life? There must be some situation where you are trying to please others
or make choices that others want that go against what you truly want or need.
You may even have thought you wanted what they want yourself, but the dream is
communicating something else.
God
has His own plan for your life, and you may have to follow the beat of a
different drummer, so to speak. This may mean transcending others' expectations
of you, and even your own past expectations of yourself. Take your time
figuring things out, ask for guidance and watch your dreams for more clues. At
the age of 18, you are at a turning point in your life with many important
decisions to make. You might not have all the answers yet, but be patient and
when the time is right, the answers will come to you. Good luck!
Cyndi's
disclaimer on her interpretation work:
Please
take any interpretations as suggestions to sift through and "try on for
size," and only keep what seems to "fit" in your situation. If
it feels true to you, go with your intuition. If it doesn't feel true, or feels
off-kilter in some way, then explore further for answers that do seem to fit.
It might take several re-readings to understand the concept of an
interpretation, so give it time to sink in. My interpretation isn't meant to be
therapy or professional advice, but I sure hope it helps!
Ultimately,
each individual dreamer must decide what their own dreams mean. Please do not
take anyone's word as "gospel" All the education and fancy titles in
the world do not override your own inner knowing. If it doesn't hit the mark
for *you*, then it's not for you. You'll know.

David
responds:
Hi!
David again. I want to thank you for your amazing interpretation of my dream,
it was very, very helpful for me. It made me see aspects of my life that I was
unsure of and confused about. Now I have a clearer vision of what's happening
to me.
Thanks
again and take care!
David
