Feng Shui: Making Your Staircase LuckyBy Dr Reetu Khosla
Feng Shui: Making Your Staircase Lucky Ever paid attention to the staircase that winds its way around or outside your house? Stairs in a building strongly influence the flow of chi . A stairway is a potent channel of chi , and the shape of the staircase determines the movement of chi . In a gently curved stairway, the chi flows smoothly whereas in a straight staircase, the chi goes swiftly down. Spiral stairs act as a corkscrew and drain the upper floors of energy. You can slow down the flow of chi by hanging little bells halfway down the stairs. Placing heavy statues on the top and bottom of the stairs also slows the chi . Since chi energy picks up speed as it moves along a staircase, it is advisable not to sleep or sit near the top or bottom of the steps. A bedroom should not face a staircase or be located close to it. Too many steps in the house create a fluctuating chi , which is not good for the occupants. Stairs should also not face the entrance as the chi flows out without circulating in the house. The staircase acts as a drain if the risers are missing as chi leaks through the open space. You should be very careful about what you store under the stairs. Do not clutter the space below a staircase. Instead, convert it into a neat cupboard. Water features such as an aquarium or fountain in this space can adversely affect the performance of your children. A staircase running through the centre of the home causes discord in the family. Stairs located in the north and northwest of the house affect family fortunes. Enhance the Feng Shui of your staircase by keeping it well-lit. You can visually widen narrow stairs with a large mirror. . .
