You can pack for Montauk, or buy what you need in the village that sells or rents anything you might need for an east end excursion. Clothes stores, swim suits, bike rentals, boat rentals, a drug store that stays open late... and more. If you show up, you can get what you need while there.
While there do not fail to stop in to the Montauk Fudge shop where you can get all flavors of homemade fudge, with all types of nuts and nonsense. More importantly stop in the John's drive in for homemade Rocky Road ice cream. Home made is not a slogan.. there is a difference sufficient to warrant forgetting about cholestoral.
There are book stores,and a quiet public library to enjoy.
