Practising Affirmations: An Affirmation for Love

We are what we think. But we are also far more than what we think consciously. We are the myriad conflicting patterns of feeling, habit, and reaction that we have built up over a lifetime - indeed, over lifetimes - in our subconscious minds.

To heal ourselves, we must also set those inner conflicts in order.

Nor is it enough, even, to affirm change on conscious and subconscious levels. For we are part of a much greater reality, with which too, we must live in harmony. Behind our human minds is the divine consciousness.

When we try to transform ourselves by self-effort alone, we limit our potential for healing and growth. Affirmation should be lifted from the self-enclosure of the mind into the greater reality of superconsciousness.

How can we, for example, find love?

One finds love not by being loved, but by loving. We can never know love if we try to draw others to ourselves; nor can we find it by centering our love in them. For love is infinite; it is never ours to create. We can only channel it from its source in Infinity, to all whom we meet.

The more we forget ourselves in giving to others, the better we can understand what love really is. And the more we love as channels for God's love, the more we can understand that His is the one love in the entire universe.

The following affirmation and prayer will help you to expand your heart's love to others Ð and, thereby, to draw the infinite power of love, which is God's.

Affirmation

I will love others as extensions of my own Self, and of the love I feel from God.

Prayer

O Infinite One, make me a channel for Thy love! Through me, reach out to sow seeds of love in barren hearts everywhere.
