Prosperity: Spells, rituals and other techniques to attract prosperity

Long before the movie Jerry Maguire made the phrase "Show me the money!" so well known, the pursuit of prosperity was a constant driving force and desire for most of us non-Donald Trump types. Most requests for spell-work that come my way involve love or prosperity.

To begin, let me state outright that you can not simply burn a candle and sit back like a couch potato and expect a windfall. You must be taking some action outside "the circle" to draw good fortune to you. While karma does play a role in this as in all matters, you can facilitate the attraction of abundance. Here are some of my favorite ways to draw prosperity into your life.

Certain scents attract prosperity. Cinnamon, Tangerine, Bayberry, Hyssop, and Mint are some of the most popular scents used in prosperity rituals. Peony is said to help draw in new business and good fortune and Vervain is believed to assist you in obtaining material objects. It also increases creativity and is a favorite of those who seek success in the performing arts.

Candle magik is another popular method of drawing prosperity. Anointing the candle with one of the above oils listed is said to increase the power. Green candles are a good choice for this kind of spell-work.

Visualization is a key element in drawing good fortune to you. I remember a story told by the actor Jim Carey. He would go to a lookout point every night and visualize success. He wrote himself a check for 11 million dollars and predated it. He carried it in his wallet for years, until he won the part in Dumb and Dumber and received an unheard of amount for his role. Curiously enough, the predated check was the same date the contract came through for him.

Another who used visualization successfully is Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert cartoon. He worked much like Dilbert and his cohorts, in a cubicle at Pacific Bell. He now works out of a luxurious house in San Francisco. He decided that in order to live out your big dreams, in his case to be a cartoonist, you first had to visualize it. He would write, "I will be a syndicated cartoonist" 15 times a day. He visualized the retirement of Gary Larson (creator of the Far Side) and Bill Watterson (of Calvin and Hobbes), thus opening up a spot for a new cartoonist. It helps to set a time frame in such matters. Be specific about not only what you want to draw to you, but also what you will give back in return.

Moon magik is very powerful and drawing down the full moon's energies into wallets and checkbooks can provide great results. Every month we set out our open checkbooks and wallets under the light of the full moon. While we haven't won the lottery yet, we always seem to have enough to cover our expenses for the next month, even when the outlook was bleak. During the waning moon, we visualize our bills diminishing, just as the moon's light diminishes from the sky.

The Victorians believed that washing your floors with kelp helped to draw money to you. In terms of astrology, spell-work of this kind should be performed on Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday, utilizing the energies of Mercury for skill and removal of debt, Jupiter for riches, and the Sun for fortune and money.

Another popular abundance ritual involves taking three silver coins and a chalice of water. By the light of the waxing moon drop each coin in one at a time saying "Blessed be the light of prosperity, glowing and growing for mine and me. By Silver moon and silver light, all I desire is mine tonight. Money, happiness, prosperity, all these things are part of me." (-- Edain McCoy) I then let this sit in the window under the moonlight overnight.

When writing out checks to pay bills try this. Light some green candles and burn incense that is associated with prosperity. Before you begin say, "Lady and Lord my burdens see, bring to me prosperity." Repeat two more times and visualize all your needs being met as you write out each check.

Some prefer to carry prosperity amulets or sachets. Herbs like lavender, saffron, cinquefoil, basil, and poppy along with a silver coin are wrapped in a green cloth and tied with a gold ribbon and then carried with you in purse or pocket.

There are many personal rituals we all have. Each should be customized to you, your lifestyle and beliefs. These are few of the simpler things that anyone can do. The main thing to remember is the power lies with you and your mind. With positive thoughts of prosperity, along with action on your part, you will find ways to get the Universe to "Show you the money!"
