I'm a pretty strong believer in the existence of God - I acknowledge and respect the fact that there is a God watching over me. I'm a Roman Catholic and since childhood, I've attended mass every Sunday.
Having attended a school where I had the study of scriptures as one of my subjects, I'm well versed in matters of my religion. Though I hold strong faith in God, I'm not overtly religious. There's no particular time when I remember God more but admittedly, in times of trouble or when I need some help, I invariably turn to God.
That apart, before turning in every night and on waking up in the morning, I do remember and thank the Lord for everything. I firmly believe that God has charted out a destiny for each of us - one that we cannot escape.
Recently, I was involved in a near-fatal car accident and my surviving and recovering from it was nothing short of a miracle. I can't thank anyone but God for it. And yes, this incident has only reinforced my faith in God.
I remember that on that fateful day, I had forgotten to carry my rosary with me. This particular wooden rosary embedded with a cross, I had picked up from Lourdes six years ago. Since then, it has been a source of strength for me. I carry it wherever I travel and I do believe that it has some power in it which protects me from harm. When I regained consciousness, I asked a friend to fetch it for me and I truly feel that my rosary has played a part in my recovery.
Our destiny to a large extent is broadly worked out. Success is a combination of hard work, luck and what you make of the opportunities that are destined to come your way. I suppose your being at the right place at the right time is also destiny.
Yes, bad things do happen to good people, some people seem forever fortunate while others are born into misery - when I think of these things, I wonder who pays for whose sins. I thank God for simply making me the person I am, to have the family I have and I'm pretty content. I believe God has given us a beautiful existence - I try to enjoy and make the most of it. If things don't go the way I'd like them to go, I don't blame God. I accept it as a part of life wherein certain things are not meant to be.
