A personal reflektion on God by Jaspal Bhatti. ”I believe in the existence of God and I am God-fearing. The universe has originated due to some super power. In the wide ocean we are like a small drop. My faith in God has never been shaken. And I am grateful to him for the fame and success that I have today. I have never asked Him for anything, nor have I ever taken a mannat . ”

I believe in the existence of God and I am God-fearing. The universe has originated due to some super power. In the wide ocean we are like a small drop. My faith in God has never been shaken. And I am grateful to him for the fame and success that I have today. I have never asked Him for anything, nor have I ever taken a mannat .
Religion is an individual and private matter. If a few people sit down and discuss religion I feel that they will soon argue, but if they discuss humour they will laugh and enjoy themselves. Humour and laughter bind people. Humour dissolves arguments and builds a rapport. It dispels gloom. Laughter brings us closer to God. It transcends limitations and takes us deeper into reality. Love and laughter brings people closer to the Almighty I am thankful to Him for the sense of humour he has blessed me with.
I believe that work is worship and for me humour is like a religion. I think it's important to look at life and at society with humour, because then we can cope with things in a better way. I always look at the lighter side of the problem.
My childhood has been a religious one. Till the age of 10, I lived with my grandparents, who instilled in me religious values. As a kid I spent a lot of time in the Gurudwara with them and at home reading religious books. My grandmother who is now 90 plus has largely influenced me.
I am not superstitious, but everyone suggested that I break a coconut for the mahurat of my serial Flop Show because it is considered auspicious - but I made a black cat run before the camera. People consider black cats a bad omen. I don't think so. And the Flop Show was a hit!
One has to work if one wants to achieve something in life; one has to make the best of opportunities that come in life rather than sit and wait for things to happen. I believe in the teachings of Bhagvad Gita - Do your duty, leave the rest to Him. Whatever work one does, one must do it with delight and not as if it is a burden.
I never wear any precious stones nor have changed the spelling of my name yet! I pray to God to give me inner strength and faith to go on in life, so I don't have to look elsewhere for strength. In life, ups and downs are natural. But I never lose faith in myself.
I am grateful to God for all that he has blessed me with. I never complain to Him nor have been angry with Him. I feel that religion has been commercialised today, religious practitioners feel threatened by other religions. The so-called religious heads should give up their fanaticism. Religion is a personal matter. People should learn to respect all religions and ultimately aim to be good human beings.
