As of the census^GR2 of 2000, there are 3,851 people, 1,593 households, and 992 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 85.0/km² (220.1/mi²). There are 4,815 housing units at an average density of 106.3/km² (275.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the hamlet is 87.04% White, 0.86% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 9.76% from other races, and 1.40% from two or more races. 23.92% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,593 households out of which 26.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.0% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.7% are non-families. 28.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.90.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 20.0% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 33.9% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 105.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 109.2 males.

The median income for a household in the hamlet is $42,329, and the median income for a family is $50,493. Males have a median income of $40,063 versus $28,299 for females. The per capita income for the hamlet is $23,875. 10.6% of the population and 8.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.9% of those under the age of 18 and 8.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
