Aura and Auras

A Wisdom Archive on the Aura

Auras

Auras not only reflect our distinctive personalities but are also a barometer of energy fields within our body, warning us of impending trouble well in advance

Indian metaphysics describes the aura as an emanation that can only be felt in a state of tranquility. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks associated the halo with resurrection. They, along with Indians and Romans, used the halo in art to depict supernatural forces and mystical states.

The aura is a protective shield that keeps you healthy and joyful. However, stress and illness may adversely affect your aura. Certain diseases can even cause gaps in it. When something blocks the energy flow within the aura, the shield weakens, making you unhappy, depressed or sick.

Aura analysis: Direct or indirect examination of the vital energy that envelops each human. To some the aura is perceptible others can analyze it through Kirlian photography. The colors of the aura reveal the personal traits of the subject. One can also associate auric colors with glands, organs, organ systems, and psychological states such as anger and boredom.

Aura and Auras: Theosophy Occultism Mysticism Dictionary on Aura

A Theosophical definition of Aura :

Aura

An extremely subtle and therefore invisible essence or fluid that emanates from and surrounds not only human beings and beasts, but as a matter of fact plants and minerals also. The aura is one of the aspects of the auric egg and therefore the human aura partakes of all the qualities that the human constitution contains. It is at once magneto-mental and electrovital, suffused with the energies of mind and spirit  - the quality in each case coming from an organ or center of the human constitution whence it flows. The aura is the source of the sympathies and antipathies that we are conscious of.

Under the control of the human will the aura can be both life-giving and healing, or death-dealing; and when the human will is passive the aura has an action of its own which is automatic and follows the laws of character and latent impulses of the being from whom it emanates.

Sensitives have frequently described the aura in more or less vague terms as a light flowing from the eyes or the heart or the tips of the fingers or from other parts of the body. Sometimes this fluid, instead of being colorless light, manifests itself by flashing and scintillating changes of color  - the color or colors in each case depending not only upon the varying moods of the human individual, but also possessing a background equivalent to the character or nature of the individual. Animals are extremely sensitive to auras, and some beasts even descry the human being surrounded with the aura as with a cloud or veil. In fact, everything has its aura surrounding it with a light or play of color, and especially is this the case with so-called animated beings.

The essential nature of the aura usually seen is astral and electrovital. The magnificent phenomena of radiation that astronomers can discern at times of eclipse, long streamers with rosy and other colored light flashing forth from the body of the sun, are not flames nor anything of the sort, but are simply the electrovital aura of the solar body  - a manifestation of solar vitality, for the sun in occultism is a living being, as indeed everything else is.

Aura and Auras: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on AURA THERAPY

AURA THERAPY

Every substance in the universe, both living and dead tissue, emits energy and has therefore a radiation pattern. This radiation, termed 'aura', thus forms distinctly different force fields in the case of each item, in the same manner as a fingerprint. The individual auras are in contact with a universal field of spiritual energy from which they draw their power.

Artists and mystics have from ancient times seen and portrayed this effect all over the world. Aura therapists say that although we are usually not aware of it consciously, auras, rather the effect of interacting auras, determine our first responses to people and situations. Developed and understood properly, it is a quicker and more sensitive gauge than more rational faculties. The unease or elation that one feels immediately on meeting another person is thus caused by the auras being in harmony or without it.

The auras of plants, animals and minerals are said to communicate and interact with one another as part of a single living system. Each person's aura is thought to be made up of the radiation from all the cells and chemicals within the body and their interaction. The visible aura, which is much in evidence in all religious texts, is said to be an oval extending from a few centimeters to a meter around the body, sometimes more at the head. The light being composed of seven coloured rays, each associated with particular organs of the body and conveying a distinct message. The variations in shape, colour & strength a reflection of each individual's uniqueness.

Therapists believe that personality and emotions too can be interpreted from auras. One with soft, fringed edges for instance is likely to indicate a person too susceptible to the influence of others. Firm but fluid boundaries would indicate openness but not vulnerability. And a hard, distinct outline belonging to one who is defensive and insecure. Similarly, lots of red within the aura would indicate anger while a predominance of blue would stand for idealism.

Treatment comes in the form of adding extra colours to improve a dull or depleted aura or using complimentary colours to offset to help balance one that is too strong. The therapists only acting as conduits for transferring the universal spiritual energy into the auras of patients, by touching the latter's auras or by using visualisation to transmit energy. However, active patient in the entire process is extremely crucial which involves their becoming more self-aware of their spiritual nature.

Aura and Auras: Spiritual Theosophical Dictionary on Aura

Aura (Gr. and Lat.). A subtle invisible essence or fluid that emanates from human and animal bodies and even things. It is a psychic effluvium, partaking of both the mind and the body, as it is the electro-vital, and at the same time an electro-mental aura; called in Theosophy the akasic or magnetic aura.

Aura and Auras: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Aura

Aura (from Greek, Latin aura air)

A subtle invisible essence or fluid emanating from and surrounding beings, both those classed as animate and inanimate. To the eyes of clairvoyants the human aura appears as a halo of light, variously colored according to the momentary psychic and mental condition of the individual.

Since everything in the universe is a center of living energies of one kind or another, it must necessarily be surrounded by a field of force, representing its radiations into the surrounding space and upon all objects within its sphere of influence. The human being is of a composite nature, and his aura will, therefore, be composite, including astral-vital, psychomental, and spiritual emanations, and any of these may be perceptible according to the plane on which the perceiver is able to function.

But the aura, even though not commonly visible to our eyes, is nevertheless perceptible by the effects which it produces upon those subtle senses which all possess in addition to the conventional five. By the auras of persons we are affected, both consciously and unconsciously, and thus is explained the influence which people exercise on each other. Animals are in some ways far more sensitive to auras than we are.

Auras also emanate from so-called inorganic substances, such as magnetic substances. This subject has been investigated in connection with different bodies by Reichenbach and others, whose researches show that these emanations are bipolar as is ordinary magnetism. The phenomena of animal magnetism, investigated by Mesmer, illustrate this, for his magnetic fluid was a reality. The aura is a psychomental effluvium, and in its higher parts is a direct manifestation of the akasic portion of the auric egg surrounding every individual.

Aura and Auras: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Auras

Auras

The emanation of the astral body. The subtle energy field as seen by psychics. In humans, it tends to be ovoid, and extends from a few inches to several hundred feet or more from the body. The average extends about 18 inches.

The size, color, and content of the aura can vary with changes in mood, health and spiritual development. Dark spots or "blocks" in the aura are thought by many to be early warning signs of illness.

Various scientists have attempted to record the aura with cameras. Most successful were Valentina and Semyon Kirlian in the 1930s. In the 1980s a technique called aura imaging was developed in the U. S. It uses a computer to translate emenations from the hand or fingers into color images of the energy flow around the entire body. How accurate these images are is still open to question.

Aura and Auras: Alternative Health Dictionary on Aura Imaging Photography

Aura Imaging Photography (Aura Imaging): Variation of Kirlian photography promoted by Johannes R. Fisslinger, the German author of Aura Imaging Photography, Aura Mastery, and Aura Visions, and by researcher Guy Coggins, author of Aura Awareness: What Your Aura Says About You.

Aura Imaging is a means of reading the true character of individuals. It involves using an aura camera that can produce instant photos. The color, shape, and size of the auric image can indicate specific physical, emotional, and spiritual conditions. Aura Imaging theory posits chakras (energy centers that correspond to endocrine glands) and vital energy.

Aura and Auras: Alternative Health Dictionary on Aura analysis

aura analysis (aura reading, auric diagnosis): direct or indirect examination of the vital energy that envelops each human. Nonpsychics can analyze the aura through Kirlian photography or a Kilner screen.

Dr. Walter J. Kilner (1847-1920) of St. Thomas's Hospital, in London, invented this screen: two plates of glass, an eighth of an inch apart, containing an alcoholic solution of a dye (usually carmine or a coal-tar dye).

Auric colors reveal the personal traits of the subject, such as impressionableness and spiritual arrogance. Proponents also associate auric colors with glands, organs, organ systems, and psychological states such as anger and boredom.

Aura and Auras: Alternative Treatment Dictionary on Aura Color Healing

Aura Color Healing: Drawing equally from ancient Hindu beliefs and the work of modern psychic healers like Edgar Cayce, aura or color healers look for a dark or grayish area in a multi-colored aura field surrounding the body to indicate potential health problems. Color healers apply remedial colors where they notice a color deficiency.
