The Global Oneness Celebration

A global prayer for oneness

The Oneness Celebration during the Venus Transit of June 6-8 2004 takes place at an amazing gathering of energies in the Mayan calendar. In the age old Tzolkin calendar the venus transit has been celebrated without interruption by the Mayan people for some 2500 years.

June 6-8 is being promoted worldwide as the Global Oneness Celebration. Let us come together during this time in gatherings and prayers throughout the world to celebrate love and beauty, light and unity. Let us translate these energies into art, economics, culture, politics, education and ecology. Let us pray, each in our own way, for peace, healing, beauty, and global oneness! We will continue building the momentum on this same day for the next eight years until June 6, 2012, the date of the second venus transit.

On this day, people spend the day decorating the entrances of houses & shops with flower studded strings called 'Torans' (Floral Gateways). The Global Oneness Celebration: Encyclopedia II - Christmas - Dates of celebration

Christmas is now celebrated on December 25 in Roman Catholic, Protestant, and some Eastern Orthodox churches, such as the Greek, Bulgarian and Romanian Orthodox Church. The majority of Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on January 7. This date results from their having accepted neither the reforms of the Gregorian calendar nor the Revised Julian calendar, with their ecclesiastic December 25 thus falling on the secular date of January 7 from 1900 to 2099. This calendrical difference has led to confusion on the part of those unfamil ...

The Global Oneness Celebration: Encyclopedia II - Iris Chang - Celebrity

As many observers pointed out, whether positively or negatively, Iris Chang went beyond being an author to being a celebrity. The Rape of Nanking placed her in great demand as a speaker and interview subject, and, more broadly, as a spokesperson for an entire viewpoint that the Japanese government had not done enough to compensate victims of their invasion of China. In one often mentioned incident (as the The Times of London reported it): she confronted the Japanese Ambassador to the United States on television, demanding ...

The Global Oneness Celebration: Encyclopedia II - Christmas - Customs and celebrations

A plethora of customs with either secular, religious, or national aspects surround Christmas, varying from country to country. Most of the familiar traditional practices and symbols of Christmas originated in Germany, including the now omnipresent Christmas tree, the Christmas ham, the Yule Log, holly, mistletoe, and the giving of presents to friends and relatives. These practices and symbols were adapted or appropriated by Christian missionaries from the earlier Germanic pagan midwinter holiday of Yule. This celebration of the winter solsti ...

The Global Oneness Celebration: Encyclopedia II - Candlemas - Relation to non-Christian celebrations

Candlemas depends on the date for Christmas: Candlemas follows 40 days after. Thus there is no independent meaningfulness to the date of Candlemas. It is plausible that some features of pagan observances were incorporated into Christian rites of Candlemas, when the celebration of Candlemas spread to north-west Europe. Modern neopagans have argued that Candlemas is a Christianization of an ancient pagan festival, Imbolc, which was celebrated in pre-Christian Europe at about the same time of year; this festival marked the mid-way point ...

The Global Oneness Celebration: Encyclopedia II - Wigger - Celebrities and media characterization

"Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" by The Offspring is a famous song about wigger culture [1]. It describes a "wannabe" white man who attempts (and humorously fails) to integrate into black culture. In his song "The Way I Am", Eminem describes the characterizations of him as a wigger. He claims they come from "cocky caucasians" who think he is "some wigger who just tries to be black cause I talk with an accent, and grab on my balls." [6] Note the use of "caucasians", suggesting that these accusations come ...
